Position: ASSISTANT BRANCH MANAGER
   
Location: Manchester Public Library
Salary & Benefits: $12.50/hour

Minimum Requirements:
  • Must be 18 years or older and have a high school diploma or GED and some college credits or an internal promotion based on long-term quality performance and demonstrated competence.
  • At least one year of experience in library work or general office work
Duties:

The Assistant Branch Manager is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operation of the library in a manner that benefits the library’s patrons and the community. The Assistant Branch Manager is guided by procedure and by policies that are formulated by the  library board and administered by the Pine Mountain Regional Library System.

Essential Job functions:

  • Directly supervises the daily activities of all branch personnel and volunteers
  • Opens and closes the library
  • Collects fines & fees and maintains accurate cash records; submits reports, if needed
  • Maintains accurate statistics & submits reports, if needed
  • Trains staff members
  • May occasionally shelve books and other materials
  • Delivers all forms of public service and assists patrons
  • Uses Evergreen proficiently on a daily basis
  • Works with the County Librarian in the maintenance of the library collection
  • Must be familiar with library policy and procedure and be prepared to enforce policy and carry out procedures correctly
  • Assists with special projects when needed
  • Assists with Summer Reading Program during the summer
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Physical Demands:

  • Nature of work requires an ability to occasionally lift boxes of books of 40 pounds or less and push heavy wheeled book carts
  • Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Must be able to use a computer for extended periods and operate standard office equipment, daily
  • Must be able to bend, crouch or stoop
   

 


Position: CHILDREN'S SERVICES CLERK
   
Location: Hightower Memorial  Library | Thomaston, Georgia

Minimum Requirements: Must be 18 years or older and have a high school diploma or GED and some college credits or an internal promotion based on long-term quality performance and demonstrated competence.
Duties:

The Children’s Services Clerk is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operation of a branch library, in a manner that benefits the library’s patrons and the community. They also plan and present children’s programming. The clerk is guided by procedure and by policies that are approved by the library board and administered by the Pine Mountain Regional Library System..

Essential Job functions:

  • Assists with the daily operation of the branch library
  • Opens and closes the library
  • Collects fines & fees and helps maintain accurate cash records
  • Circulates materials to patrons; places holds for patrons
  • Shelve books and other materials
  • Performs cleaning duties when needed
  • Delivers all forms of public service and assists patrons
  • Uses Evergreen proficiently on a daily basis
  • Creates and presents children’s programming (stories, songs, crafts & activities)
  • Decorates the library and/or children’s area and bulletin boards
  • Works with the Children’s Department to coordinate the Summer Reading Program at that location
  • Arranges furniture for SRP and children’s programs
  • Works with the County Librarian in the maintenance of the library collection
  • Must be familiar with library policy and procedure and be prepared to enforce policy and carry out procedures correctly
  • Assists with special projects and performs other duties as assigned
