Position: Public Services & Outreach Librarian
Location: Pine Mountain Regional Library System | Manchester, Georgia
Salary & Benefits: $55,000 – $63,000 (salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience)

Schedule: This is a full time (40 hours a week) position including occasional Thursday nights and Saturdays. Flexibility to attend branch and community events on nights and weekends is necessary
Minimum Requirements:
  • Masters in Library Science from a college accredited by the American Library Association
  • Hold a G5 or higher Georgia certification of librarianship license prior to employment
  • Hold or be able to obtain a valid Georgia driver’s license within six months of employment
  • Minimu of two years library experience prefered
Duties:

The Pine Mountain Regional Library System is seeking an innovative librarian who can engage the communities and patrons in our rural four-county region. The ideal candidate must have excellent communication skills and enjoy working with all kinds of people.

The librarian will respond to the needs and interests of our communities by seeking out opportunities to promote the library and form partnerships within the community.

The employee will be the County Librarian for at least two counties; supervise the Branch Managers in those counties, and supervise the Extension Services Department, including the Courier and Interlibrary Loan Department.

Essential Job functions:

  • Actively seeks out and participates in outreach activities in all four counties (i.e. local festivals, career days, VIP readers, etc.)
  • Plans, presents and coordinates teen and adult programming for all branches
  • Plans, presents and coordinates Outreach/Extension Services programming for all branches
  • Supervises and trains staff members
  • Attends regional board meetings, local board meetings or committee meetings
  • Speaks to local civic groups or other organizations
  • Attends professional meetings, webinars and workshops

    Position: Branch Manager
    Location: Talbot County Public Library | Talbotton, Georgia
    Salary & Benefits: $9/hour

    Minimum Requirements:
    • Must be 18 years or older and have a high school diploma or GED and some college credits or an internal promotion based on long-term quality performance and demonstrated competence.
    • At least one year of experience in library work or general office work.
    • Prior supervisory experience preferred.
    Duties:

    The Branch Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operation of a small branch library, which has one to three staff members, in a manner that benefits the library’s patrons and the community. The Branch Manager is guided by procedure and by policies that are approved by the library board and administered by the Pine Mountain Regional
    Library System.

    Essential Job functions:

    • Directly supervises the daily activities of all branch personnel and volunteers
    • Oversees maintenance of the library building
    • Opens and closes the library
    • Picks up library mail (at some branches)
    • Collects fines & fees and maintains accurate cash records & submits reports
    • Maintains accurate statistics & submits reports
    • Trains staff members
    • May occasionally shelve books and other materials
    • Delivers all forms of public service and assists patrons
    • Uses Evergreen proficiently on a daily basis
    • Works with the County Librarian in the maintenance of the library collection
    • Must be familiar with library policy and procedure and be prepared to enforce policy and carry out procedures correctly
    • Assists with special projects when needed
    • Assists with Summer Reading Program during the summer
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    Physical Demands:

    • Nature of work requires an ability to occasionally lift boxes of books of 40 pounds or less and push heavy wheeled book carts
    • Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time
    • Must be able to use a computer for extended periods and operate standard office equipment, daily

    Duties:

    The Circulation Clerk is responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operation of a branch library, in a manner that benefits the library’s patrons and the community. The clerk is guided by procedure and by policies that are approved by the library board and administered by the Pine Mountain Regional Library System.
